Yankees’ Gardner works 2-run single after epic 12-pitch AB

Known for working long at-bats, Brett Gardner brought his talent to the American League Division Series.

In Game 5, with the New York Yankees up 3-2 and runners on first and second, Gardner forced Cleveland Indians setup man Cody Allen to throw 12 pitches.

The poke into right field resulted in an errant throw by Jay Bruce, which, after Aaron Hicks scored, allowed Todd Frazier to come all the way around from first base, extending the Yankees lead to 5-2 heading into the final frame.
