Watch: Miggy snaps 22-game HR drought with walk-off blast

Miguel Cabrera, the suddenly scuffling Detroit Tigers star, took the field Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays having gone 22 games without a home run – the third-longest such streak of his remarkable career.

He sure picked the right moment to end his drought, though.

With the score knotted at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning at Comerica Park, Cabrera deposited a 97-mph fastball from Tommy Hunter just over the fence in right-center field, propelling the Tigers to a 5-3 victory with his seventh career walk-off home run and his first since Aug. 17, 2013, against the Kansas City Royals.

Cabrera’s homer, his sixth of the campaign, was also the 452nd of his career, tying him with Carl Yastrzemski for 37th on the all-time leaderboard.
