Watch: Harper’s missile HR screams into stands at 116.3 mph

Warning: Sitting in the right-field bleachers when Bryce Harper is up can be hazardous to one’s health.

On Thursday night, the Washington Nationals star nearly decapitated some poor soul in the right-field seats at Citi Field, blasting a line-drive solo shot off New York Mets right-hander Robert Gsellman in the top of the first inning that screamed into the bleachers at 116.3 miles per hour – Harper’s hardest-hit ball of the Statcast era.

Prior to Thursday’s series opener, Harper, who has now gone deep 17 times in 2017, had never recorded a home run with an exit velocity greater than 112.8 mph, according to Baseball Savant.
