Report: Phillies have ‘standing offer’ on table for Neshek

One offer for Pat Neshek is apparently weighing on the mind of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Philadelphia reportedly has a “standing offer” on the table for Neshek currently, a source told CSNPhilly’s Jim Salisbury, though Salisbury notes the Phillies could be waiting for Neshek to improve his value before accepting a deal.

On Thursday, a report from FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal revealed that the Washington Nationals had shown interest in acquiring Neshek to bolster their depleted bullpen, though it’s unclear if the Nationals made an offer for the one-time All-Star.

Acquired from the Houston Astros in November, Neshek is having a career year for the Phillies this season, allowing just two runs in 29 2/3 innings for a 0.61 ERA while posting a 0.78 WHIP – both career-best marks.
