Fantasy Baseball: Week 9 Injury Report


RP Cameron Bedrosian, Los Angeles Angels

Bedrosian has been throwing in extended spring training and is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon.

OF Byron Buxton, Minnesota Twins

He left Monday’s game with a lacerated finger on his right hand.

RP Aroldis Chapman, New York Yankees

Chapman has been out with left rotator cuff inflammation and started playing catch over the weekend.

OF Lonnie Chisenhall, Cleveland Indians

He was placed on the 7-day concussion DL.

SP Danny Duffy, Kansas City Royals

Duffy will miss 6-8 weeks with an oblique strain. He suffered the injury covering first base when he tumbled to the ground on Sunday. 

SP Kendall Graveman, Oakland Athletics

Graveman was placed on the DL with a right shoulder strain. He was on the DL last month with shoulder soreness, so this could be more than 10 days.

SP Jesse Hahn, Oakland Athletics

Hahn hurt his triceps last Tuesday and will make a rehab start Wednesday. He’s not expected to be out long. 

SP J.A. Happ, Toronto Blue Jays

Happ pitched in one rehab start and allowed three runs on seven hits over three innings and will return to the Blue Jays Tuesday after missing six weeks with elbow inflammation.

OF Mitch Haniger, Seattle Mariners

Haniger has been out with an oblique strain and still isn’t ready for a rehab assignment. He still feels soreness after hitting.

SP Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners

Hernandez threw his first bullpen session Saturday, throwing 25 pitches. He will throw another bullpen Tuesday. He could return at the end of June.

SP Hisashi Iwakuma, Seattle Mariners

Iwakuma threw a bullpen session for the first time since landing on the DL with shoulder inflammation.  He will not throw off a mound for a few days and is at least one month away. 

OF Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles

Jones missed the weekend games with hip and ankle injuries. He was originally in the lineup Monday before being scratched.

2B Ian Kinsler, Detroit Tigers

Kinsler is on the 10-day DL with a left hamstring injury.

SP Francisco Liriano, Toronto Blue Jays

Liriano pitched 4.1 innings in a rehab start Sunday, striking out seven and allowing seven hits, two walks and two earned runs. He has been out with inflammation in his shoulder and will return to the starting rotation this weekend.

C James McCann, Detroit Tigers

McCann is on the 10-day DL with a left hand laceration.

SP Charlie Morton, Houston Astros

Morton was placed on the 10-day DL with a right lat strain and is expected to miss more than 10 days.

SP James Paxton, Seattle Mariners

Paxton threw a 37-pitch bullpen session Sunday and is slated to make a rehab start on Friday and if all goes well, he could be back with the Mariners May 31.

2B Dustin Pedroia, Boston Red Sox

Pedroia left Monday’s game with a left wrist sprain after a collision with Jose Abreu at first base. He had an MRI Tuesday that showed no structural damage.

SP Tyson Ross, Texas Rangers

Ross struggled in his second rehab start Monday, allowing six runs, six hits, and five walks in 3.1 innings. He threw 86 pitches; 39 for strikes. Ross might return this week or the Rangers might opt to have him make another rehab start.

SP James Shields, Chicago White Sox

Shields had a simulated game Monday with no issues and will begin a rehab assignment Saturday as he works his way back from a lat injury.

RP Huston Street, Los Angeles Angels

Street pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed two runs and two hits in his third rehab appearance Sunday. He has missed all season with lat and shoulder injuries. 

OF Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels

Trout will have surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament tear in his left thumb. He will miss 6-8 weeks.

Steve Mitchell, USA Today


OF Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers

Braun is on the DL with a left calf strain.

SP Madison Bumgarner, San Francisco Giants

He is slated to begin a throwing program on Friday. He will need five rehab starts before a return.

OF Yoenis Cespedes, New York Mets

Cespedes was removed from a rehab game, his second one, Saturday with quad soreness. Cespedes, who has been out with a hamstring injury, is expected to return in 7-10 days. The Mets play in Texas next week against the Rangers, so he can be used as the DH.

3B Adonis Garcia, Atlanta Braves

Garcia is 5-for-10 in his first three rehab games and is expected to return in the next few days.

SP Amir Garrett, Cincinnati Reds

He is on the 10-day DL with right hip inflammation. 

SP Jonathan Gray Colorado Rockies

Gray threw a bullpen session without a boot on Sunday.

SP Seth Lugo, New York Mets

Lugo will make one more rehab start as he comes back from a partially torn UCL. He allowed three runs over six innings in his last rehab start Sunday at Double-A Binghamton. He allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out seven.

OF Manuel Margot, San Diego Padres

Margot is on the 10-day DL with a right calf sprain.

SP Steven Matz, New York Mets

Matz will make one more rehab start. He pitched five perfect innings and struck out eight at Triple-A Las Vegas Sunday. The Mets want him to throw 90 pitches.

OF Joc Pederson, Los Angeles Dodgers

Pederson was placed on the 7-day concussion DL after a collision with Yasiel Puig.

OF Hunter Pence, San Francisco Giants

Pence is expected to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday or Wednesday.

OF Gregory Polanco, Pittsburgh Pirates

Polanco was carted off the field Monday, but it turned out to be a sprained right ankle. He is expected to miss a few games and is day-to-day.

SP Jameson Taillon, Pittsburgh Pirates

Taillon had surgery for testicular cancer in early May and pitched in a rehab game at Double-A Altoona Sunday, striking out six in three scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, one walk and threw 29 of 47 pitches for strikes. He will throw a bullpen session Sunday and no timetable has been give for his return, but based on the first start it shouldn’t be too long. Add him if he’s available.

SP Taijuan Walker, Arizona Diamondbacks

Walked will pitch in a simulated game Tuesday and could return this weekend. 

2B Kolten Wong, St. Louis Cardinals

Wong landed on the 10-day DL with a left elbow strain.

SP Alex Wood, Los Angeles Dodgers

Wood was placed on the 10-day DL with inflammation of his left AC joint. Manager Dave Roberts said Wood is expected to miss one start.
